On May 20–21, 2025, the LABPLAS consortium came together in Vigo, Spain, to celebrate the final General Assembly of the project. This in-person meeting brought together partners from across Europe to reflect on the journey we’ve shared over the past years, discuss our key results, and close the project on a high note.
Throughout the two-day meeting, partners presented updates across all work packages, highlighting the scientific, technical, and communication milestones that LABPLAS has reached. The discussions were filled with valuable insights, open exchanges, and a shared sense of pride in the progress achieved, from microplastics detection and modelling to impact assessment and stakeholder engagement.
As a symbolic and memorable closure, the consortium enjoyed a guided visit to the island of San Simón, a historical and scenic site in the Ría de Vigo. The island’s peaceful setting provided the perfect opportunity to unwind, reflect, and celebrate the achievements of a project built on collaboration and scientific excellence.
We want to thank all partners for their outstanding work, dedication, and team spirit. While the LABPLAS project officially comes to an end, its results and legacy will continue to contribute to a better understanding of microplastics in our environment and support future EU environmental and circular economy goals.
